Pre-conference Interview with Alexei Vladishev
Alexei, what are your expectations regarding Zabbix Conference 2016?
Our conference has always been a great place for our users, customers, partners and community members to meet each other in a relaxing atmosphere. I am happy to see how Zabbix Conference, with its cultural and language diversity, has been welcoming the best System Engineers, Cloud Specialists, DevOps and CTOs for already 6 years.
This time we are planning to announce the release of the new major version – Zabbix 3.2, which includes an impressive set of new functionality along with various improvements and advanced features. I will bring up this topic during my speech at the conference, while discussing the new real-time event correlation module, which allows complex matching of problems based on event tags. This simplifies the process of root cause analysis, being of high importance for large-scale monitoring in such fields like telecommunications, financial agencies, cloud service providers and similar spheres.
I am also glad to see how Zabbix achieves results in the world of containers and, especially, in Docker. This year at Zabbix Conference 2016, there will be some talks dedicated to Zabbix integration with Kubernetes and other solutions on container orchestration and management. By the way, official Zabbix Docker files are already available on Docker Hub, however, only in experimental form. More on this will be soon published in our documentation.
Tell us about the opportunities Zabbix Conference brings to its attendees.
This year, for the first time, we’ll be running a series of Workshops at the conference. This will be a great chance to learn and practice Zabbix as well as gain new knowledge on specific topics, such as Zabbix API and tuning Zabbix for better performance, directly from our developers.
Also, only at the conference, if you hold a Zabbix certificate starting from the version 2.0, you will get a unique opportunity to pass Zabbix 3.0 exam and become Zabbix certified without having to attend a 5-day Training course.
Well, to sum up, many interesting ideas and novelties are guaranteed, including case studies on different examples of Zabbix implementation, presented by our honored speakers from Salesforce, Nokia, Kinetic IT and other influential institutions.
What are you most eager to discuss with conference participants?
I am always interested in hearing users’ opinions about our product. Specifically – what features to add and what things to improve, as I always accept constructive criticism. It might seem that all this information is already available, but live communication lets you get a much deeper understanding of why this and that functionality is needed and how it works. After meeting our users and partners in person, we can prioritize and plan future releases more efficiently.
What would you advise people attending this year’s conference?
The conference is expected to be extremely saturated and entertaining! I would suggest everyone to take part in Zabbix Conference at least once, as there is no other event in the world, where Zabbix team, community, partners and users learn, grow and have fun together, all contributing to the common cause – the evolvement of Zabbix.
