Zabbix premier event of the year – Zabbix Summit 2019 was held on October 11-12. Hundreds of Zabbix users and fans came to Riga from almost 50 countries to spend a few days together, learn and get inspired by each other.
We had a record number of speakers this year – busy agenda gives productive and enlightening summit.
We tried to put a priority on sharing our own experience during the two days of the event. Firstly – through the speeches. Alexei Vladishev, Zabbix CEO, introduced the latest Zabbix 4.4 release in detail; Sergey Sorokin, Business Development Director, announced the latest Zabbix news, such as the availability of the new professional support tier for the large enterprises and the possibility of cloud deployment of Zabbix for various providers. Several speeches were also provided by the Technical Support team. Such topics were covered as the new Zabbix Agent, Zabbix HA cluster setups, Zabbix pre-processing, Security-related monitoring with Zabbix. Zabbix Team introduced the official guide to making and managing great templates, as well as showed the value of shared knowledge.
The second way of sharing the expertise of Zabbix Team was practical, through the workshops. It was possible to choose from five hands-on workshops this year and learn various technical tricks from Zabbix Trainers and Partners. We have received valuable feedback from trainees and for the next year we will follow up on all suggestions to make the workshops as convenient and useful as it is possible.
The third way of being more helpful and gaining more knowledge was made through the booth area. Zabbix sales team presented professional services – explaining all support tiers and training options, but the Technical support team was available to answer all technical questions for everyone, not only professional support customers. Exhibition stands were also provided for Zabbix partners, what made it possible to deliver brand values for the interested Summit visitors in a friendly and convenient way.
We will leave this option for communication with Zabbix users and technical consultants for the next year. Feel free to start preparing your questions now to get ready for the Zabbix Summit 2020.
One more step forward was made by opening the door. A day before the Summit we invited everyone interested in Zabbix headquarter, held a friendly tour showing how the working day in Zabbix looks like and got some coffee together.
One more thing we decided to organize for the first time was the “Travel companion event”. This event included the tour in the Riga Central Market guided by the famous Latvian chief and TV star Martinsh Sirmais. After tasting the local culinary delights, the group was invited for a delicious lunch in the chief’s restaurant. Since the event had great success, we will organize something interesting for the joining parties for the next year for sure.
The last but not the least thing we put into practice was the YouTube live stream. The two days of the Summit agenda, as well as interviews with speakers and partners during the coffee breaks, were available for everyone online. We haven’t filmed the parties, but the photos explain a lot – all three events were simply great!
But stop speaking about ourselves. Every Zabbix Summit or Conference is all about visitors. During the event, we have heard various inspiring presentations from speakers all around the globe: from the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, France, Italy, China, Japan, Russia, Poland, Turkey. Geography doesn’t matter when there is a solution that connects the international community and inspires to share own experience. Real use cases implemented by Zabbix Community is something that makes us move forward, by developing features you ask and providing services you need for your projects’ development.

Zabbix Summit 2019 is successfully finished, and we are slowly starting preparation for Zabbix Summit 2020. It will be the anniversary, the 10th Zabbix event in Riga, so we are going to do our best to make it special.
